Oh sigh Whole Foods, but I must boycott you!

I have been shopping at Whole Foods for a long time.  Spending more for things because I liked the store and I liked its philosophy.  Or a least I thought I did.

And I have been in favor, strongly in favor, of single payer health care for a long time.  While I was displeased with Obama’s plan for not going far enough, it looked like it might at least be something.  And I could understand the probable narrative of reasons for not replacing the insurance ‘system’ now in effect.  Wasn’t what I wanted, but I thought it had a chance to make things a little better.  And who knows, in time, we may even have made progress.

And I thought these were separate things:  where I bought my food, and the US national medical insurance disaster.

But now I find that John Mackey co-founder and CEO of Whole Foods is a Thatcherite and campaigning against the health care plan.  It was disappointing to learn that the man who made millions off of the shopping habits of people like me was part of the reason that even the partial fix was disintegrating.

So now I must join the boycott and say goodbye to my favorite food store.  But at least I get to recycle my recycled shopping bags.
